We were looking forward to sharing it with you at our first concert, but life had other plans – so here’s our virtual premiere: from the talented Norwegian composer, Ola Gjeilo, here’s The Rose. When we added it to our repertoire this year, we knew it’d become an instant Chromas-favorite. The Rose was one of those tunes that immediately stole our hearts upon hearing it for the first time. In addition to overseas tours, competitions, school exchanges and its annual production - Wrinkles in The Air, the Choir also performs frequently at various school events, community outreach programmes and carolling projects. More recently, the Choir received awards in Singapore International Choral Festival for 20, winning silver awards in the Sacral category in the first year, and Sacral and Folksong categories in the second. Over the years, the Choir has travelled to several locations including St Petersburg, Czech Republic, Poland and Austria, to compete in music festivals where it has received many Gold and Silver awards. The Choir celebrated its first anniversary in May 2008 by participating in the 4th International Choir Festival - Mundus Cantat Sopot, clinching 2 Silver Diplomas in the Sacred and Folk categories. With its young and vibrant group of music-makers, the Choir continues to advance in its journey towards music excellence. Since its commencement, the Choir has grown in strength and is one of the most prestigious arts clubs in SMU, having been inducted into the University ' s Arts Excellence Programme.
